Commencement Weather Precautions
Temperatures this week are forecast to be in the mid to high 80s. Because we want you and your guests to have the best experience possible at commencement, please take the following precautions:
- Water. Please bring water and ice in a refillable bottle. There will be water stations at the graduate line-up where you can refill. Please also make sure that your guests bring plenty of water as well.
- Clothing. Please wear something light and cool under your gown. Please also encourage your guests to wear comfortable clothing and wear a hat.
- Shoes. Please wear comfortable shoes. You will be walking a lot during commencement on both pavement and grass. Your guests should also wear comfortable shoes, as they will also be walking a lot on both surfaces.
- Parking. Please review where to park with your guests. Visit commencement parking for more information regarding where to park for each venue.
- Arrival time. The commencement venues open at 7 a.m. for the morning ceremonies and 4 p.m. for the evening ceremonies. Please consider your arrival time accordingly. There are plenty of seats, and each venue has a large video board, so no matter where your guests sit, they can watch you graduate.
- Umbrella. There is very little shade in either commencement venue. Please consider bringing a small, collapsible umbrella to provide shade. Once the ceremony begins, guests will be asked to close their umbrellas so that everyone can watch the ceremony.
