Ceremony

Ceremony

Commencement ceremonies are held on campus at Titan Stadium (Orange) and at the Intramural Field (Blue).

The location of your ceremony is based on your area of study. Check the schedule and determine what day, time and location your ceremony will be.

Plan to arrive on campus 1.5 hours prior to the start of your ceremony. This will give you enough time to park and walk to your ceremony lineup area, and will allow your family enough time to park and walk to your ceremony venue.

Checking in for your ceremony

Registration Table

  • Check in at the registration table at your designated grad lineup location.
  • Registration lines are in alphabetical order by graduates last name.
  • Receive your QR code sticker which houses the information you previously registered in Marching Order. Your QR code sticker houses the data for your name to be called and displayed on the screen as you cross the stage.

Line Up

Signs will clearly indicate your major/concentration at the line up area. Once you have completed your check-in process, please line up behind the sign for your major/concentration.

Processional

Your ceremony will begin with a processional of graduates from the lineup area to graduate seating. Ushers will guide you.

Ceremony program

  • The program will include speeches from your dean and/or president or provost, classmates and faculty from your college.
  • Your name will be announced and you will walk across the stage to receive a certificate of participation.
  • The only item you will need to take to the stage is your QR code sticker (on your phone), which will announce your name, project your name and help photographers do their jobs.
  • At the end of the ceremony, there will be a few closing words, your degree will be ceremonially conferred and you will receive direction to move your tassel from right to left.
  • The ceremony program is approximately two hours.

Recessional

  • Out of respect for your fellow graduates, all Commencement participants will remain until the conclusion of the ceremony.
  • At the conclusion of the ceremony, you will recess out of the venue. Ushers will guide you.
  • Guests are not allowed in the ceremony area.

We ask that all graduates and their families/guests show respect to their fellow graduates by remaining until the conclusion of the ceremony.

Please remember that the student code of conduct is in effect for the Commencement ceremony. Use, possession or distribution of alcoholic beverages and/or illegal drugs and controlled substances on college premises or at any college-sponsored activity, including appearing on college premises while under the influence of alcohol or drugs/controlled substances, is strictly prohibited.
