Education statement:

I believe in an antiracist pedagogy. This means that both curriculum and classroom are radically inclusive. This promotes experiential learning towards embodied knowledge to carry forward beyond any one course and the semester. As an educator, several things are essential to me:

  1. Students are at the center of the work.
  2. The work evolves, is flexible, and reacts to life and to the community.
  3. I am committed to learning myself and to challenging myself and others.

In a class – even online – we are a community. We learn from each other. It is my job to keep my courses culturally relevant and  responsive to the people who are in the class with me.

Diversity and Representation Statement:

Diversity is humanity, and it must be represented fully in our courses and on our campus. Each student has a unique intersectional identity and embodied knowledge that informs who they are; and each is welcome regardless of their gender, sexuality, age, abilities, race, ethnicity, religion, economic background, nationality, and languages. All should feel recognized for enriching our community and see themselves represented in the work we do. It is my responsibility to ensure this and to provide support to enable all students to succeed.
