Diversity Statement

My commitment to radical inclusivity demands that students from all backgrounds and perspectives be served within this course and program. I believe that our differences are exactly what make up the “inner-landscape” of which Martha Graham spoke and that we continue seeking to reveal through the art of dance. I recognize that systemic racism, sexism, ageism, homophobia, transphobia, body shaming, and ableism etc. have played foundational roles in dance and society; I am aware of my past complicity and am dedicated to using my platform to discover a new paradigm based in mindful inclusivity, alongside my students and colleagues.

I am grateful for the lessons and patience bestowed upon me by people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and others. I am honored to be held accountable and am committed to continue working to create an anti-racist, inclusive enviornment in the classroom and beyond.
